For anyone who has been keeping up with our events calendar, you would know that the Humane Society of Durham Region’s 4th Annual Open House event is coming up! Bark ‘n Yapp will be there and we hope to see all of you there as well.
The HSDR Open House is an annual fundraiser event in support of the shelter. It is a family and fur-kid friendly event! There will be a jumpy castle, face painter, pet and non-pet vendors, canine massages, lots of food, raffles, a beer tent and much more!
Join us on June 10th from 11AM-4PM at 1505 Wentworth St for a day of fun, and for a good cause too!
The Humane Society of Durham Region is an affiliate under the OSPCA. They are a non-profit organization dedicated to helping all companion animals in need by providing comfort and temporary shelter in the Durham Region. Their shelter is strictly no-kill. The HDSR is always on the lookout for potential adopters and fosters for the unwanted, abused, neglected, or abandoned pets.
The HSDR helped out over 1000 animals last year. Their mission is:
“To provide compassionate care for abused, abandoned, and neglected animals in our community while they await their new beginning in life.”
The HSDR also promotes the humane treatment of animals and works alongside the OSPCA to respond to complaints of animal cruelty.
Your Donation Makes a Difference!
The HSDR does not receive government funding, which makes the generous donations from animal lovers like you incredibly crucial. The majority of donation funds are used in animal care, which includes veterinary and vaccination expenses. Other uses include shelter operations, animal food, and transport expenses.
In addition to donating money, the shelter also accepts donations of food, cleaning supplies, laundry supplies, and more. If you have anything you’d like to donate to the HSDR, bring it to the Open House on June 10th!
Bark ‘n Yapp hopes to see you all come out to support this great cause!
